Posted on March 28, 2019 at 9:55 AM Comments comments (18339)
Hello fellow floaters, gas prices are forcing me to raise my prices for all floats by $5 starting May 1st. Book your floats now and save money. I will be offering discounts during the year with my phrase that saves, so check back each month for the new phrase and save that $5 by saying it when you call or entering it in the online promo code box. The first Adopt -a-Highway cleanup is April 13th and I am looking for volunteers to help. Signup and receive a free kayak rental this summer or lunch at the Sportspage Grill after the cleanup. Call 231-740-0227 to signup or with any questions about my rentals. Thanks and Happy Floating!

Hello fellow floaters. The Full Moon Floats are now open for booking. You can book 24/7 from my website or Facebook page. Some of the dates are half sold out. Looks like the weather is not going to let me open early but things could change quickly. Lets hope for warmer temps. and lots of sun. Happy Floating, Guy.

New Online Booking Option

Posted on February 15, 2019 at 3:55 PM Comments comments (4578)

Hello fellow floaters, I have integrated an online booking company Fare Harbor into my website. You can now book a kayak float at anytime 24/7 by clicking on the pictures of different floats available on the main page, or the calander on the prices page. There is a 6% booking fee added to the prices I charge for each kayak rental. You can still call me direct and ask questions or book a float if you desire and save the booking fee. On another topic, only 2 weeks left untill the Full Moon Floats are available for booking. They will sell out fast so get a group together, and then visit my website on March 1st at 10am to book your float. Hint: I have to manually change the booking status for each months float, one at a time, so I will start changing them a little before 10am. I will start with the last float on Oct 13th, and work backwords to the May 18th float. So, if you want to go to one of the later in the year floats, start looking around 9:55am. Thanks and happy floating!

Hello fellow floaters, the season has ended for this year. Thanks to everyone who utilized my livery service. I enjoyed helping all of you take a float on the Muskegon river. I will start the 2019 season as soon as the weather permits, which is usually around May 1st. I will post the dates and start taking reservations for the Full Moon Floats in March of 2019. I am also working on adding an online booking feature on my website. Thanks again and see you next year.

record rains

Hello fellow floaters. We have had 8 inches of rain in the last 3 days. The river is up a couple feet and faster. It is also a little muddy, but will clear up and go back down within a week. I am open all Labor Day weekend, and every day after until November 1st. My Wednesday evening sunset floats are $10 per person and start at 6pm. The last highway cleanup is September 22nd. Volunteer and get a free kayak rental or lunch at the Sportspage Grill. September 25th is the full moon float for that month. Call me about any of these events and happy floating.

The Changing River

Posted on July 21, 2018 at 2:45 PM Comments comments (3312)
Hello fellow floaters. The middle float is changing its course. It has become blocked below the cabins by sand and trees. It is taking a new path north to Cedar creek. If you take the turn on the south branch marked North Branch, you must also take a sharp right after you get past the cabins, and go to Cedar creek, and take it down to the highway. You can also take the south branch past the North Branch turn sign to the next right turn that has a sign that says Cedar Creek Cutoff. It starts out fast and narrow and crosses several trees before connecting to the old north branch section below the blocked section. There is also a third path from the south branch to the north branch. It is further down the south branch and connects with the north branch at the US31 highway bridge. I am in process of signing the various paths the river has created. Look for them and enjoy your float.

Summer is Here!

Hello fellow floaters. The river is down to normal after a spring that saw high water from dam releases upstream, and heavy rain. The lower section is still a foot high as Muskegon lake and Lake Michigan are near record highs. It is flowing about 4-5 mph, and the middle section is starting to get some very shallow sections. You may have to do the butt shimmy or get out and pull your kayak thru the sandy spots if you are larger in size, and choose that section. My Wednesday evening sunset floats have started. For only $10, take the lower float and watch the sun set as you drift down the river. Every Wednesday (weather permitting)from 7-9pm. Only the first 13 people who call 231-740-0227 and sign up each week get the half price deal. My Full Moon Floats have all sold out except for Oct. 24th. I have waiting lists for all the dates as people often cancel. If interested in going, give me a call and get on a waiting list. The dates are listed on my home page near the bottom. Thanks and happy floating, Guy.

April Snow!!!

Posted on April 16, 2018 at 5:10 PM Comments comments (4741)
Hello fellow floaters. We have received about 3 inches of snow/sleet/freezing rain the last few days. Everything is coated in ice. I had to reschedule the adopt-a-highway for this Saturday, the 21st. Please join in and help me cleanup a 2 mile section of M120. Details on my adopt-a-highway page. I will open as soon as the weather warms up. I need to check the middle section for tree debris before I can put people on that section. The river is up a couple inches and should stay that way, unless we get lots of rain upstream. Thanks and happy floating, Guy.

Spring is Just Around the Corner

Hello fellow floaters, thanks for all the calls for the full moon floats. They are now all sold out except for the October 24th date. I hope the weather cooperates and all the floats can take place. They are a fun event. I will be in the St. Patrick's day parade, in downtown Muskegon on Saturday March 17th. Come down and watch the parade. It starts at 11am near Hackley park. Bring a non-perishable food item to donate to a local food bank. On March 30th, I will be at the Muskegon Lumberjacks hockey game, putting on hockeyak races after the first period. Come down to the L.C. Walker arena and see the kayaks race on the ice. April 14th is the first adopt-a-highway cleanup. Join me in helping keep Michigans highways free of litter. Anyone who volunteers, gets a free kayak rental this summer. Details are on my Adopt-A-Highway page. Thanks and happy floating.
